This role is in the ID Products business unit, responsible for creating the most sophisticated industrial barcode readers in the world. We combine custom hardware, specialized lighting and optics, and world class vision algorithms to create embedded systems for reading barcodes. Using these systems, we can find and read high-density symbols on package labels or marked directly on a variety of industrial parts, including aircraft engines, electronics substrates, and pharmaceuticals test equipment.  Our devices need to read hundreds of codes per minute, so the team needs to optimize both hardware and software to create best in class technology.

About you

Our ideal candidate is a pragmatic software professional with a can-do attitude who shares the enthusiasm for learning and applying any new development that helps to keep our software platform state of the art.

Here’s a list of some of the things we pay attention to in our hiring process:

• Master or bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field
• Experience writing C code required. Experience in C++ code highly desired
• Interest or work experience desired in: Embedded Linux / kernel develop; Networking, wireless communications & sensors; Scrum, clean code, and test development
• High energy and motivated learner with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good presentation, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills
• Verbal and written fluency in English required

Additional Job Description

• Create drivers for new components & sensors (e.g. optical & lightning), improve process communication, integrate network protocols
• Improve inter-process communication, integrate networking protocols and implement other high-level application functionality
• Debug and troubleshoot in a hardware and software environment on heterogeneous multi-core systems
• Ensure a robust and high-quality product by developing test automation
• Support and communicate with Cognex costumers and internal teams
• Occasional travel to the USA or Hungary
