The Faculty of Social Sciences and Law of Elche and the Department of Statistics, Mathematics and Computer Science, in collaboration with the Research and Innovation, announces the First Contest "STATS GAME: the awakening of the data," with which it is intended to disclose the usefulness of statistics in non-university educational levels.

 
Who can participate?

all registered students may participate in any degree of the UMH. Participation will be in groups of two students. Only one entry per student is allowed.

 
What is the work to be presented?

Contest participants will hold a dissemination workshop related to Statistics and Operations Research, aimed at students in non-university educational levels. The aim is to encourage students' interest in these statistics as a fundamental tool in research, both experimental sciences and social sciences.

 
Awards

    First prize: Two TABLET point of view 10p c 1GB 8GB tab p1080
    Second prize: Two EBOOK 8GB Energy eReader screenlight 6p
    Third prize: Two iTunes gift cards worth € 30

All participating students will receive a certificate attesting to their participation in the contest.

Besides the prizes, the winners workshops will be able to be taught in:

    II edition of the Fair of Science and Technology of Elche.
    Hall Junior School Summer UMH
    Aula Urbana UMH

 
Jury

The jury will be formed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation for Technological Innovation, Asunción Martínez Mayoral, by the mathematician popularizer member of The Big Bang Theory, Santiago García Cremades and the Deputy Dean of the Degree in Business Statistics, Maria Victoria Herranz Square.

The winning entries will be selected according to the following criteria:

    Ability to stimulate interest in statistics.
    Quality statistical content.
    Ability to report the usefulness of statistics in our daily lives.
    Efforts by students.

Students will present their work on March 9 sessions of 5 minutes or less in length.

Participation in the competition implies knowledge and acceptance of these bases. The jury's decision is final.
